Can CBD be used to reduce anxiety?

261views

It’s unclear at this point how CBD treats anxiety. Research has suggested that CBD may affect brain serotonin levels. Your body produces serotonin, a chemical that is involved in the regulation of your mood.

Mood, Sleep, Digestion and Behavior

Research shows that anxiety can be treated by increasing levels of serotonin. Some medications, like antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs, regulate serotonin levels. Some studies have suggested that CBD might work in a similar way to these medications.

Can CBD be used to combat depression?

Some evidence suggests that CBD might help with depression. However, there aren’t many human studies. To be certain, more research is required. CBD could be used to treat anxiety and depression in the same manner as serotonin.

CBD can be safely taken with antidepressants. However, you should consult your healthcare provider before taking CBD.

What do the studies say about CBD and anxiety?

A number of studies have looked into CBD as a treatment for anxiety, due to its rising popularity.

An analysis of CBD in public speaking was done by the University of California, Berkeley in 2011. It was found to reduce anxiety and discomfort in patients with social anxiety disorder.

A 2011 study also found that CBD reduces anxiety symptoms in those with social anxiety disorder.

A review of 49 studies in 2015 found that CBD may be effective in treating generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder and social anxiety disorder.

A 2019 study showed that 91% of patients suffering from PTSD experienced a reduction in symptoms after using CBD.

In 2019, a study used CBD to help people with anxiety and insomnia. Nearly 80% of participants experienced a decrease in anxiety and 70% reported better sleep after the first month. However, the results for sleep were not consistent over time.

A 2017 study found no evidence that CBD could increase anxiety or paranoia. In fact, some people felt more anxious.

Although these results are generally good, there are some things you should keep in mind. First, these studies often have very small sample sizes (even those with negative results). The results may not reflect the general population. These studies also don’t examine the long-term effects of CBD on anxiety. We don’t know if CBD for anxiety can be used over time to reduce anxiety.

What dosage should I take CBD to treat anxiety?

CBD is not known to be effective in anxiety. Research has shown that CBD can reduce anxiety in those with social anxiety disorder. However, more research is required to establish an effective dose.

There are many options when it comes to CBD products and forms.

Oils, capsules, drops, teas, vapor, candies

These products aren’t monitored by FDA so there is no standard labeling system or seal you can use to ensure they are safe. While states may monitor them, the regulatory system is patchwork. This has not kept pace with the growing popularity of CBD.
